Independence Day

Every year, for about eight years now, we have been hosting a bbq on the 4th of July. Our group has dwindled the couple of years and this year it was just us and our friends, the V's. They have stuck by us year after year. Our other friends moved to other states, they just couldn't handle the awesomeness that is our yearly bbq. But seriously, we missed our old friends this year but we carried on. We even invited some new friends this year, but they left before we pulled out the fire works, a new baby and all.

We started off our morning attending the parade in Creswell. We didn't get any pictures but if you've seen one parade you've seen them all. Old cars (I love the mustangs and T-birds), rodeo horses, marching bands, and lots of candy. After the parade we went home to relax until the bbq started in the late afternoon.

My hubby is the master at grilling burgers and hotdogs. I make the sides and the V's always bring the tastiest potato salad. We had six adults, eight children and a cute little baby this year. The kids played in the pool and with the sprinkler while the adults chatted and relaxed in the shade. I didn't get any pictures of the water fun either and my hubby was grilling so he didn't either. I know, lame.

After dinner some of our guests left and the rest of us watched Rio 2 while waiting for dusk so we could light off some fireworks. This year I picked up some from Costco for $20 and it was a huge pack. They turned out much better than the expensive ones you get at the firework tents in town. We will be buying from Costco again next year.

Waiting patiently for the show to begin.
A little smokey but everyone is in this shot!
It looks closer than it really is. And we had a
bucket of water if we needed it, although the ground was
thoroughly soaked from the afternoon water play.

The adults had fun with them, also.

It was a fun evening shared with friends. I look forward to when all of our friends are together again. Oh the fun we will have! We just have to figure out where. I still think renting a houseboat on Lake Shasta would be amazing fun!
