Dressed Up Apples Punching

Interesting title, right? Well this is three posts in one. First post is of my girls showing off the new dress up jewelry their Bahmah mailed to them. They love the clip on earrings and big gold belt. The belt even fits me so I can wear it when I dress up as an Egyptian Queen at Halloween some year in the future.

Here is a wagon-load of apples M and the girls picked at our local park one weekend while I was out of town scrapbooking. Not only did he pick all these apples but he turned most of them into apple pie filling and apple sauce then canned them. The rest he turned into tasty fruit leather. He is an amazing hubby!

Same weekend as the apples he bought a punching bag off of Craigslist and hung it in our living room. I am not too thrilled about it's placement but the girls absolutely love it! Here is a video of my four year old going to town on it. Watch out evil villains, she will take you down!

Papa/Princess Pumpkin Party

This week at Mutual we had the dads come and carve pumpkins with their daughters. Being the non-pumpkin carver that I am, I was very impressed with how great they turned out. At our house we usually just use Mr. Potato Head pieces or do nothing at all. Carving a pumpkin is hard and messy work, plus I am not that creative. Other than the one father/daughter team who kept throwing seeds, we kept the place pretty clean. After the activity we had Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies, which were so tasty we demolished the 6 dozen I brought. I'd say the evening was a success.

A Golden Coin

K's top tooth has been wiggly for about a month and she has been hoping it would come out at school. Why at school you ask? Because if you loose a tooth at school, there is a teacher who will give you a cute little tooth necklace to safely transport your tooth home. K has been wiggling it a lot at school and then leaving it alone at home. It finally popped out during her reading class which was fortuitous since that is the teacher who has the necklaces.

Isn't it a cute little thing? K kept her tooth in it so the tooth fairy could find it easier underneath her pillow. In return for this pretty little tooth, she received a gold dollar coin. When she awoke she was very excited because she has been wanting a Sacajawea coin for some time now and found a gold coin waiting for her beneath her pillow. Unfortunately the tooth fairy was all out of those coins but she left behind an Abe Lincoln dollar coin. Did you know that they come with many different presidents faces on them and have for a few years now? I was unaware. Hopefully the next time our tooth fairy comes she will have a Sacajawea coin for K, though I don't know if they are still in circulation....

Zombies Among Us

The girls and I went to Heiser's Pumpkin Patch this weekend with my aunt and cousin. There was so much to do and see while we were there and it was relatively inexpensive, just $22 for the girls and myself.

There was a huge hay slide and a dark hay maze to wander through. The girls went through the maze over and over again. The only time they got scared was when some older boys, about 10 or 12, dressed in dark clothes and masks hid around a corner and jumped out and yelled at them. I told them it was not okay to do that to little kids. The momma bear came out in me.

There were huge cannons used to shoot pumpkins into the air. It was very loud but fun to watch the pumpkins shooting across the sky.
For only $60 you could go up in a helicopter ride for 5 whole minutes! We opted not to try that out, way too expensive! I'd prefer to spend my money on something else.
We jumped on the tractor drawn wagons and headed down to the pumpkin patch and corn maze.

We let the girls take turns choosing which direction they wanted to go. It was an easy maze, if you went the wrong way you found a dead end pretty quickly or it circled around to the correct place you needed to be. I never realized how tall corn grew. It always looks to be about 5 feet tall when you are driving by on the road but it was easily 2 feet above my head.

 Peek-a-boo!
There were bunnies, donkeys, pigs, chicks, goats, and a calf to pet. The girls liked the animals a lot, I made sure to wash their hands really well after they were done. Then we took a ride on a fire truck. They drove pretty quickly and even turned on the lights and siren. We all really enjoyed the ride.

There was even a clown making animal balloons for the kiddies. L asked for a sword and K asked for a dinosaur. The sword was good, I am still not sure what the dinosaur was but it was very intricate. Then we went for a ride on a train.

Little did we know when we headed out today that we would be surrounded by zombies. They were having a Zombie 5k Dash; there were so many people, kids and adults, dressed up in cool and gruesome costumes. We stayed long enough to see the start of the race but headed out before it ended. I took some video of it but didn't get any good pictures. They let the survivors run first and then three minutes later released the zombies. I don't know who won or what happened if a zombie caught you but it was a fun premise for a Halloween run.

All in all it was a really fun day with the girls and I am so glad my aunt and cousin came with us. It definitely made the day easier and more fun.

Fall Field Trip

I got to go to the pumpkin patch with my 4 year old and her preschool class last week. There were animals to pet, a hay ride to the pumpkins, and a hay maze complete with tube slides.

L was allowed to pick any pumpkin to take home that she could carry. She actually got a pretty big one. It was a fun morning.
