We had some friends over today in honor of L's fifth birthday. She asked for a strawberry cake with a white top and pink sides which I made last night. It was pretty simple, but since I hurt my back recently, easy was good. I just made a simple box cake with cream cheese icing. We also decorated the kitchen and living room with pink and white streamers and balloons.
This morning K made pancakes and put some icing on top for L's special birthday breakfast. During breakfast M showed L her birthday cake and discovered that it cracked open during the night. L thought it was great that there was already a spot for the candles to go.
When everyone arrived we enjoyed a tasty lunch. I forgot to take a picture of the victuals but it consisted of sandwiches, potato salad, deviled eggs and bean salsa. After lunch we visited while the kids played and then we opened gifts. L got some great stuff for her birthday from her friends and family. We only gave her one of our gifts and will give her the rest on her actual birthday. It was cute how all the kids crowded around her as she opened the gifts and at times tried to help her along with opening them.
M made this sign for above her door. She loves it.
After opening the gifts we moved on to the cake. L helped to put her candles in and we all sang Happy Birthday to her. She blew out her candles one at a time after making a wish.
Cute cake, and fun party! Happy Birthday, L!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am seriously jealous of the new sign above Larkin's door. I hope she will treasure that for the rest of her life!
