Heceta Head Lighthouse

Yesterday was a beautiful day at the coast. We took the girls down to Heceta Head Lighthouse and let them run around. We played in the surf, made sand castles, and hiked up to the lighthouse. It was a wonderful and relaxing day.

Checking out the little "caves" in the side of the hill.

Daddy taking the girls out toward the surf.

K standing on a nice stump.

K, L, and I played in the sand. I have never made a sand castle before.
It was actually pretty fun.

My Little Cleaner

L has a cleaning streak just as her sister did at this age. L likes to move all the furniture out of the kitchen and sweep it for me. She does a pretty good job. I just hope it keeps up since K doesn't really like to keep things clean any more.

L moving the stools.

Sweeping around the highchair before she decided it had to move.

Getting her eating spot nice and clean ready for more crumbs to land.

Uh-oh! I think I broke it.

Yea, Mommy fixed it!

Ring Around the Rosies

We had our good friends over yesterday for dinner. After dinner, the girls played ring around the rosie and had a blast together. Here are some pictures, at the end is a video.

Clara, K, and L ringing around.

Ashes, ashes...

They all fell down:)

Mr. Caterpillar

While picking peppers from our garden, a caterpillar was spotted. M brought it in to show me, K was so excited about it. Now I thought these little guys turned into butterflies, but it is awfully late in the season for butterflies to be hatching. What do you think?

Mr. Caterpillar up close.

We put him out in our apple tree.

I think he prefers our garden.

Millions of Peaches, Peaches for me...

My aunt came down again to can with me. We went to Detering Farms on Thursday to pick peaches in their orchards. There were tons of peaches and they were all perfectly ripe and juicy. We picked three boxes of them that weighed 40 pounds each for a total of 120 pounds of peaches. On Friday we got up early and canned peaches all day, finishing by 7:30. Then we went to get body massages to ease our aching muscles. It was a wonderful day.

The boxes of peaches we picked. Don't they look yummy?

Karen and N peeling the peaches.

The four pots cooking on the stove. We had one each for syrup,
lids, blanching peaches, and the water bath.

While we were peeling peaches, L came over to inspect the garbage can.

Getting ready to pour in the syrup.

Karen cutting peaches.

Here are 22 of our 45 jars of finished peaches.

After we finished canning the peaches there were some left that were really
bruised. These we made peach pie filling out of and canned 7 jars of it.

First Day of Preschool

K's first day of preschool was yesterday. She has been to the school before but this year she has a new teacher and the class is twice the size. She has been so excited about school starting again, always asking how many more days. When it was finally here, she was ready to go even before I was out of bed. I just hope that her excitement for school doesn't dwindle as she gets older.

Here's my girl with her beautiful smile.

Standing on the front stoop.

Walking to the school building.

In front of the school doors.

When we got to her classroom she walked right in and started talking
to a group of kids. I think it helped that she knew one of them,
but I was so proud of her walking in like she owned the place.
I think this year is going to be a great one for her.

Pomona Girls

Grandma and Papa just got back from taking Luke to Pomona College. While they were there, they picked up these cute items for the girls. Thanks for the hat and t-shirt; wish I had one:)

Playing in the Rain

K wanted to go outside and play in the rain so we dressed her in her rain coat and boots then sent her on her way. I thought it was cute that she was splashing in her pool because there were no puddles in the backyard to splash in.

Standing in the pool.

Jumping in the water.

Giving it her all.

I looked out the window later and saw her pouring
water from her watering can into the pool.

Enchanted Forest

We were invited to go to Enchanted Forest with one of K's friends from school and her parents. M went when he was younger, but the rest of us have never been. I thought it was a great little amusement park for kids and love that it is in the forest. It was so fun walking around in such a beautiful area and the trees made it much cooler. You definitely get a workout too since it is all up hill. The girls had a great time.
L had a great time too with her Grandma. She has never been with Grandma alone so we were a little weary. L is very attached to me and has a hard time being away. But she did a wonderful job and had lots of fun with Grandma. So glad they were able to get some bonding time in. Thanks for watching her for us Grandma!

Here is K with Daddy outside the castle.

I thought this was a wonderful painting.

K and Hannah in front of Humpty Dumpty.

Going down the slide.

K and Hannah sitting on a bench, very cute.

Riding on the train.

Up in the Ferris Wheel. K really liked this ride.

Bumper Boats.

Going down the slide by themselves.

The Frog Hopper goes up really high and then drops little by little down.
Then it jumps up little by little to the top again.
I was surprised that K wanted to go on this ride, but she really liked it.
There was one spot in the beginning where she got a little scared,
but after that she was fine.
