All Hallows Eve

Since there was no school on Halloween this year we had some friends over for a party. We decorated cupcakes, made masks and watched Sleepy Hollow, the old cartoon version. The kids had a blast together.

After they headed home we started getting the girls ready for trick or treating with our best friends. We had mummy dogs for dinner before putting the final touches on the girls outfits.
K so badly wanted to be a zombie this year and she definitely has the zombie look down! L went as a pirate zombie princess. I think their makeup turned out really good.

We went through three quarters of our neighborhood this year. Usually we don't even get through half of it. The girls got a huge haul to sort through. We always let them pick out their favorites, generally about 20 pieces or so, and then put the rest in the trick or treat bowl to hand out. It was a fun night and they got so many compliments on their outfits.

Here is a pic M took of me that night.

Yellow Headband Test

L had her yellow headband test and she performed well. She did her form with Mr. Hawks and then her one steps. She is moving along nicely and loves Taekwondo.

Class Halloween Pary

With Halloween being on a Friday this year, the school decided to be closed so L had her class party on Thursday. I was asked to make a healthy treat to bring to share with the class. I found these cute pumpkins and ghosts on Pinterest.

They made spider headbands and played bingo followed by a snack of cookies and fruit. The kids had some very cute costumes. L dressed as a pirate.

Orchard Field Trip

I helped chaperone the first grade field trip to a local farm. We learned about different types of apples, ate an apple, picked pumpkins to take home and had a picnic. The weather wasn't too bad, a little rainy but not too chilly. The kids had a blast stomping through the mud puddles in the pumpkin patch.

Silly faces with Abby and Aegis.

Look at those pumpkins!

Bedroom Decore

I wanted to revitalize L's bedroom so I came up with a color scheme and had Karen help me. I found a beautiful desk on craigslist for $80 up in Oregon City which I was able to get for $60.

I also found a nice wooden chair to go with the desk for free that just needed some paint and new fabric for the seat.I had leftover fabric from a few years ago when I reupholstered children's sofa and chair we bought for the playroom.
I also got a handmade dresser off craigslist for $40 dollars that was a hideous red-orange color. I got some pink and cream paint and with Karen's help got it looking adorable!
We put some decals on the walls and rearranged the furniture. I also put a shelf in the corner behind the bed with a lamp on it after this picture was taken. M took a panoramic picture to give you an idea of what her room looks like.

Slip Sliding Away

We took the girls to Triangle Lake to try out the rock water slide. Max took them to the far side where the water was slower and he could catch them at the end. Later he and K went down the swifter side of the slide. I think we will go back next summer to try it with inner tubes.

Rowe River Trail

Today we took the girls on the Rowe River bike trail in Cottage Grove. We rode our bikes for ten miles stopping half way to play in the Rowe River. It was a warm, beautiful fall day.

Pie Eating Contest

We had some leftover chocolate pies and M thought it would be fun for the girls to have a pie eating contest. We tied their hands behind their backs and gave them three minutes to eat their pie. I was surprised at who won. They had a ton of fun!
