The End of Soccer

K's spring soccer award party was at Putter's this season. She received her award for most improved player on the team. M made the medals again; they were the Thunder Cats. M also got an award for being a great assistant coach. This is K's last season for soccer. We will be putting her into a martial arts class in the fall and back into swimming classes as well. We will have about a year off before we put L into soccer so she can learn team work and good sportsmanship.

L drew this on her boogie board recently. It is a mommy and baby elephant. I think her drawing is starting to improve, her baby is especially drawn well.

No Longer in Training Mode

L has been working on balancing on her bike with no pedals or training wheels. She uses her feet to push herself down the road getting up enough speed to coast with her feet up and trying not to fall over. She finally got good enough that dad put her pedals back on. She is a great rider now, though a little slow. She still has a hard time stopping. She forgets to push her pedals backwards and instead just puts her feet on the ground. Hopefully she will catch on without too many tumbles off her bike. Lately we have been riding around our neighborhood and going down to K's old elementary school. We hope to take her on some longer bike rides using the bike paths this summer. Here is a snippet the day daddy put her pedals back on her bike.

Soccer Finale

K played on a U8 soccer team through AYSO again this spring. She had practice Monday's and Wednesday's with games on Thursday's and Saturday's. We had a good coach and M was talked into being our assistant coach and referee. He says he persevered, I say he did awesome.
They had 10 games and improved each time. Today was their Round Robin of three games and the kids worked together amazingly. They were able to dribble and pass the ball better then they did all season. Here are some highlights from our games this season.

Our team is in blue and M is in the back refereeing.
 K kicking the ball.
Daniel was an awesome kicker, he came in handy a lot!
Kailie was one of our best players, she could charge down field
with the ball. She also could take a hit and keep on going.
I love this picture of Sydney getting the ball.
Carson was a great ball stealer.
He wasn't afraid to get into the thick of it.
K taking the ball down field.
 Our team working together.
K was able to face down Emilliano multiple times and steal the
ball from him. He was a great player on the other team but every time
he got it near the goal line, she would stop him in his tracks.
Funny thing, she would run up to him with her hands over her face and
then kick out at the ball. She got it done, though.
K going after the ball again.
 Getting it turned around.
 Good game, good game.
Go Thundercats!

Getting Down with Mother Goose

The first week of May was K's First Grade Music Program at school. All three first grade classes sang and danced to Getting Down with Mother Goose. The children were asked to draw pictures of each of the different nursery rhymes and the best pictures were used on the back drop. K's cow was used; she did a wonderful job. She definitely did NOT get her artistic ability from me.

K's cow on the backdrop.
Here is the full backdrop with all the nursery animals
and dozens of Humpty Dumpty's.
K and Tanner singing one of the first songs. She had a hard time at the beginning of the show. She needed to use the bathroom but didn't want to leave without permission. She finally got her teachers attention and was able to go but ended up missing her class's musical performance where they all played xylophones:(
All three first grade classes, about 90 children.
K's performance of Patty Cake, Patty Cake.
I thought this song was adorable!

Mother's Day

We awoke to a beautiful warm, sunny day and enjoyed a tasty breakfast of eggs, bacon, and pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream which M made. The girls played outside until we got ready for church. M took some adorable pictures of our girls before heading out.

L gave me a potted flower and a butterfly picture made from her footprints. K gave me a candle holder she made at school along with a sweet card.
M made us a tasty dinner of steak, cheesy potatoes and steamed veggies. He also gave me a pretty pair of cluster earrings. It has been a wonderful day.
