Big Girls

So, both the girls got to get a new seat for the car. L upgraded to K's seat which means she finally gets to see something besides her sisters face and her own feet. And K upgraded to a booster seat. She really likes it and feels like a big girl now. It is so weird looking in the backseat and seeing both of thier faces. I guess my girls really are not babies any more.

On the Road to Health

I guess I spoke to soon last Friday when I said that the girls were getting better. They were fine all day and night. But Saturday they both had diarrhea again and K threw up a lot throughout the day. To make matters worse, I awoke with the illness too. M was wonderful though. He took care of me and the girls so well.
Luckily for me, I was only really sick the first day. But the next two, I felt like I had been hit by a Mac Truck. I was woozy and tired every time I stood up, let alone did anything. But now I am almost back to normal. The good thing is that I lost 6 pounds since I couldn't eat for 3 days and I am still not eating very much. Hopefully I can start working out again soon and keep eat ting small meals. That should put me on track to the size I want to be by this summer.
As for the girls, L was completely better by Monday. However K was still throwing up at night before bed through Monday. So on Tuesday we decided to take her to the doctor. Everything checked out fine and she said it was just a viral infection, nothing they can do. We just had to ride it out. Wouldn't you know it, after a large copay and a diagnosis we were pretty certain to hear, K seems better again. She was able to eat decently yesterday and didn't throw up. She has been great today too. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't come back again...for any of us.

Friday the 13th!

I LOVE Friday the 13th! Some people hate it and say it brings bad luck, but for me the opposite is true. They have always been great days for me. And this one has been no exception.

M was sick with a really awful bug this week. It started on Sunday and drug out until Wednesday. By then he was really tired and weak but able to go back to work. However, yesterday the bug hit again and this time it was our little girls.

It started with L puking all over me right after a large breakfast. Then she and K started having diarrhea which didn't stop all day. I was changing diapers and wiping bums about every 30-45 minutes. Ah, the rewards of parenthood:)

L was supposed to have her 1 year check up yesterday, so I called the Doctor to see if we should cancel and to find out what to do for these poor girls. They recommended Pedialight and light, soft meals easy on the stomach. By dinner K was seeming to feel better and hadn't been to the bathroom for a couple of hours. So we fed her some Mac n' Cheese, thinking it would be good for her tummy.

We kept her near the kitchen so if she got sick it wouldn't be on the carpet. She was horsing around and looking like she was fine, so 2 hours later we decided to set her up in front of a Caillou movie to watch. We set it up in the playroom so she could sit in her chair. About 10 minutes later we heard a weird noise coming from the playroom. M went to check on K and he said she was sitting in her chair, eyes glued to the movie screen, hands under her mouth, PUKING! Can you believe she was just sitting there throwing up and not flinching? Just goes to show that TV really does make you catatonic. So we got to clean up the mess and kept her up for a little while longer to make sure she was okay.

Now, I am sure that by now many of you are thinking, "What does all this have to do with Friday the 13th?" Well, this morning the girls awoke refreshed and symptom free. There has been no diarrhea, no vomiting, both are eating well, and they seem fine. Much nicer than the 3 days of sickness that M had. Now I just have to hope that I don't come down with it tomorrow:)

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH, EVERYONE!!

SWING!!

So, one of L's birthday gifts was a toddler swing to put out on the swing set in the back yard. Well, until it is nice enough for her to be out there, Daddy decided to hang it up in the house. And just to make sure it could hold a 1 year old, we sent the 3 year old for a ride. Here she is having a blast!

Happy 90th Birthday, Grandma!

M's Grandma turned 90 on Thursday, February 5th. We drove up to spend a special dinner together with the rest of the family. She even had her son and his family come out from California to help celebrate. We went to a nice dinner and had a great time visiting. We had a very nice waitress who was glad to take a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

Can you imagine all the wonderful things she has seen in the past 90 years? I bet there were many wonderful and interesting things she saw over the years. What a miracle to be alive for so long. Happy Birthday, Grandma! Your are the best!

L's Birthday Bash

It was just the four of us for L's First Birthday. It snuck up on me so fast, I just am not ready for my little girl to be one. It seems to me that it was just a few months ago that I had her. So I didn't do a theme for this birthday, unless you count Pink as a theme. We went very simple. Just a few balloons, a few presents, and 8 cakes. Yes, I wrote 8. But most of them were pretty small.

Here is the Birthday Girl, happy as can be.

K helped me mix up the cakes.

After I frosted a couple of the cakes, I let K help. She even decorated a couple of them. She was a great little helper today. It was really cute to see how excited she was about her sisters Birthday. She just kept repeating, "Today is L's Birthday, I'm so ecited!"

Here is L eating her first present we gave her to open. She was really enjoying chewing on it.

When we started to unwrap it for her, she did the rest. These are nesting/stacking cups. She liked them so much that we couldn't get her interested in opening any other gifts.

After much agitation on L's part, we were able to get her to open her next gift, a baby of her own. However, she still was only interested in the cups. I guess it was a good gift.

Her final gift was a toddler swing which we plan on putting on the swing set in the backyard for her to use. But until it is nice enough, I think we may hang it in the house for her to use. She was so happy about the swing, she forgot all about the cups. When Daddy's arms got to tired to continue swinging her, she got really upset. Guess that is a winner too!

Here are the 8 cakes we made and decorated for L.

Here is the little cake we made for L to play in. She really enjoyed playing in her cake. She even ate most of it. We were surprised by that. Here is a clip of her playing and eating her cake.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!

I can't believe it has been a year since this beautiful girl graced us with her presence. She has been such a wonderful addition to our family and we truly feel blessed. I can't imagine our family without her.

Go Fetch!

L is getting really good at getting the ball when we throw it. It is one of her favorite games to play with us. She will even do it with K sometimes.
